To Dance: A Ballerina’s Graphic Novel

by Siena Cherson Siegel, drawn by Mark Siegel (Aladdin, 2006)
To Dance

This is the true story of Siena Siegel, who dreamed about becoming a ballet dancer, and did. This book is a graphic novel, which means it's drawn like a cartoon, but the story is true. Siena was born in Puerto Rico, where she used to dance on the beach. She fell in love with ballet and eventually moved to New York to go to ballet school.  This is a good book if you want to see what a profesional dancer's life is really like. And it's a good story even if you don't like dancing. The pictures really help, too, since dances are somtimes hard to picture just from hearing about them. I’m not sure I would want to be a ballerina, but I can see why she loves it.
