Drumbeat in Our Feet

Africa is a big continent with many different countries and many kinds of traditional dances. This book looks at some African dances as some American children learn to do them in their own American way. They learn animal dances, spirit dances, line dances, drumming dances, and athletic dances with lots of leaping. Many of these dances have special costumes, masks, and body paint, as well as their own music and chants. This book may make you want to get up and try some of these amazing dances—go right ahead! As they say in Africa, if you can walk, you can dance!
