The Microscope

Maxine Kumin is a famous poet, and one day she decided to write a little book about Antonie von Leeuwenhoek, and here it is. There are funny drawings of him and his neighbors, who thought he was nuts for peering into drops of water instead of minding his shop, and of some of the interesting things he saw through his lenses.

This is a little rhyming book
About Anton von Leeuwenhoek
And the teasing he got from silly noodles
For seeing wee animalcules.
But we would never call him a dope
For looking through his microscope!
