Archimedes' Puzzle

Ask Magazine - Zia's Cupcake PuzzleLike all great mathematicians, Archimedes liked to play games. Here is a shape game he made up called the stomachion (his version of a tangram). Cut out the one in this issue of Ask, or download it here. See what pictures you can make with the shapes, or how many different ways you can arrange them into a square. Send us your favorite creations, and we’ll print a palace of them in an upcoming issue of Ask. See the "Archimedes' Puzzle" contest winners here!
